Kensington is located in south eastern Sydney in the Eastern Suburbs. There is a mixture of high and medium density housing as well as freestanding homes, it borders on Centennial Park and Randwick Raceway and is attractive to many for its proximity to the city.

Kensington is located 6 km's south east of the Sydney CBD and is serviced by State Transit Authority buses.
